Montego Bay United (MBU) has announced the appointment of Paul ‘Tegat’ Davis as their new head coach, effective immediately. The club made the announcement on their social media platforms late Monday night, following a 3-1 victory over Tivoli Gardens in their second-round Jamaica Premier League (JPL) match.
In addition to Davis’s appointment, Andrew Peart, the coach of Glenmuir High, has been named as the club’s technical director. Davis, who previously coached Arnett Gardens in 2023, replaces Argentine Rodolfo Zapata, who departed the club by mutual agreement last week. Davis is expected to make his debut on Thursday at home against Racing United.
Davis, a former national striker, began his playing career with Seba United and later led the team back to the Premier League as a coach in the 2009-10 season. He will inherit a team currently sitting third in the Premier League with 48 points, positioning them well for a playoff spot.
The club’s official Instagram account welcomed Davis back, stating, “Welcome Home, @paultegatdavis ❤️ Montego Bay United are excited to announce the signing of our new head coach!”
Fans and stakeholders are optimistic about Davis’s return, anticipating a positive impact on the team’s performance as they aim for a strong finish in the current season.
