Concerns about overgrown vegetation and reported rodent infestations at public cemeteries in St Thomas were raised at Monday’s meeting of the parish’s Public Health and Sanitation Committee.
The committee, which falls under the St Thomas Municipal Corporation, heard particular concerns about the condition of the cemetery in Lloyds.
Yallahs Division Councillor John Lee expressed frustration over delays in addressing the problems. He said repeated complaints and promises of action had failed to produce improvements.
With conditions at several cemeteries reportedly unchanged, the committee agreed to refer the matter to the Finance Department for further action.
