Jamaica News: “A threat to innocent to Jamaican’s lives.”
That’s how opposition spokesman on national security Fitz Jackson described the decision by the former Security Minister to overturn the board of the Firearm Licensing Authority (FLA) to reject 29 gun licences.
He called for the current national security minister, Dr Horace Chang to establish an independent audit of these 29 cases as discretion on the part of the former minister or his advisors alone should not have overruled the view of the intelligence community.
Mr Jackson said despite his explanation, the former Minister must be sanctioned for what he described as a reckless move.
He addressed one of the cases in particular where he said the gentleman has roots in gang and scamming activities yet had his gun license granted.
