A fatal traffic collision along the Braco main road in Trelawny on Thursday afternoon has left one person dead and two others hospitalized, prompting an active police investigation.
Law enforcement personnel were dispatched to the scene following reports of the crash, which occurred shortly after 4:00 p.m. Preliminary information indicates that the incident involved a Toyota Fortuner and a Suzuki Jimny motor car. The individual who died was reportedly travelling in the Fortuner. The name of the deceased has not yet been released.
The injured occupants were transported to hospital for medical treatment. Their conditions have not been disclosed.
Investigators remain at the location as forensic work continues, resulting in slowed traffic along the busy roadway.
The incident comes amid heightened concern over road safety in the parish, following a separate fatal crash earlier this month on a section of the North Coast Highway that claimed two lives.
Police say investigations into Thursday’s crash are ongoing.
