Oklahoma Senate Candidate Found Dead in Vehicle Two Days After Reported Missing

Authorities in Oklahoma have confirmed the discovery of the body of Senate candidate Barry Christian, two days after he was reported missing.

According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, the 54-year-old politician was found at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Thursday inside his vehicle at the Sandy Sanders Wildlife Management Area in Beckham County.

Investigators reported that Christian was last seen on April 28 in Sayre. A missing person report was filed with the Sayre Police Department the following day. He was later located in his 2024 gray Ram pickup truck.

Officials have not yet disclosed the cause of death. The body has since been transferred to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further examination.

Family members have expressed grief as they await more information. One of his daughters described him as a devoted father who prioritized the well-being of his children. She also extended gratitude to those who participated in search efforts and asked for continued prayers during this time.

Christian was among three contenders in the Republican primary race for District 38 in the Oklahoma State Senate at the time of his passing.
