Ohio Teacher Convicted of Sex with Underage Student Accuses Husband of “Extreme Cruelty” in Divorce

CINCINNATI, OH – An Ohio teacher, Emily Nutley, who pleaded guilty to sexual battery involving an underage student, has accused her estranged husband of “extreme cruelty” amidst their ongoing divorce proceedings.

Nutley entered a guilty plea on Monday to two counts of sexual battery, admitting to a sexual relationship with a student at St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati. This plea comes during a tumultuous divorce from her husband, Jonathan Nutley, who filed for divorce in November 2024, shortly after her indictment.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Emily Nutley, in her response to the divorce filing, alleges that her husband was “guilty of gross neglect of duty and extreme cruelty.”

The timing of her allegations has raised eyebrows, with some speculating that she may be attempting to attribute her criminal behavior to a troubled marriage. Prosecutors allege that Nutley, who supervised a program assisting struggling students, engaged in a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student assigned to the program in 2023.

Authorities accuse Nutley of performing oral sex on the student, engaging in sexual intercourse with him in her school office, and sending him nude photos and sexually explicit messages. She is also accused of continuing to contact the student after he attempted to end the relationship.

Nutley is currently awaiting sentencing for the sexual battery charges, while her divorce proceedings continue through the courts.
