Montego Bay, St James (Mckoy’s News) – Fire Destroys Montego Bay Airport Bus Terminal: A fire which Firefighters say is believed to have been caused from an electrical shortage destroyed sections of the Knutsford Express Bus Terminal at the Donald Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James on Saturday night May 20th 2017.
Henry Bucknor Mckoys News Manager caught up with Euton Bernard, Acting Assistant Superintendent for the St James Fire Department and he related that they received the call at 7.01 pm. Three Units from the Freeport station and One Unit and an ambulance from Ironshore Department responded.
Acting Superintendent Bernard further states that the fire started from a section of a Electrical Room at the Knutsford Express Terminal, where the batteries used to power the Solar Panels are stores.
He pointed out that the firefighters worked swiftly to put out the blaze which partially destroyed the container room and spread to the roof sections of an adjoining container.
No one was hurt during the fire and damages are estimated in the regions of several million dollars.
The Airport police played their part in maintaining safety on the scene and the firefighters maintained presence to ensure that the fire was out effectively.
