St Catherine, Jamaica News: Mentally Ill Man Arrested – The Linstead police in St. Catherine have charged a mentally ill man with the murder of an 86-year-old in Ewarton district on Thursday, June 20. The suspect, identified as 38-year-old vendor Roderick Minzie, has been accused of fatally beating Vincent Lewin with a piece of wood.
According to police reports, the incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. while Lewin was walking in his Pollyground district neighborhood in Ewarton. Minzie, who is reported to be mentally challenged, allegedly attacked Lewin and struck him repeatedly on the head with a wooden stick, leaving him partially unconscious.
Residents rushed Lewin to the hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition. Sadly, Lewin succumbed to his injuries on Saturday afternoon.
Following a police investigation, Minzie was apprehended, provided with medical care, and subsequently charged with murder on Wednesday afternoon.
