JDF Soldiers Injured During Freak Storm in Corporate Area

Two Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) soldiers, including a female soldier, sustained injuries while assisting residents in the Corporate Area affected by a freak storm that struck the island on Wednesday.

Reports indicate that the female soldier was part of a rescue team on Providence Lane in Swallowfield, St. Andrew, when heavy winds caused a retaining wall to collapse on her foot. She suffered a fractured ankle and was promptly transported to the hospital for treatment and admission.

In a separate incident, a JDF Private engaged in similar rescue operations on Third Street in the Hunts Bay area was injured when strong winds uprooted a tent, causing it to fall on him. He was also taken to the hospital for treatment.

Both soldiers were involved in efforts to aid communities severely impacted by the storm’s unexpected and forceful impact.
