St James, Jamaica: Maroon Town Businessman Shot Dead: Two men were shot, one dead and the other admitted to hospital in critical condition following two separate shooting incidents which occurred in Maroon Town, St James on Tuesday evening.
The police have given the name of the deceased so far as David Reid, otherwise called “Dee”, farmer and businessman of Maroon Town while the injured victim is said to be a Car Washer who is in his early fifties and resides at a section of Maroon Town known as Dundee.
Reports by the Spring Mount police are that shortly after 6:00 p.m., Reid was at a shop in the area when he was approached by a man who brandished a handgun and opened fire hitting him to the upper body. The gunman then made his escape in the area on foot.
The police were summoned and upon arrival, the injured man was rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Minutes later following the first shooting, loud explosions were heard coming from a section of the area known as Dundee and the police were again summoned.
Upon arrival, the other victim was discovered suffering from a gunshot wound. He too was transported to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was treated and admitted in critical condition.
