Several individuals accused of petty theft in the Mandeville town centre have been taken into custody by the Manchester Police. The arrests follow growing concerns from residents, particularly about elderly shoppers being targeted by pickpockets in the market area and surrounding environs.
Deputy Superintendent Carey Duncan, Commanding Officer for the Manchester Police Division, confirmed that the police have intensified their efforts to curb the issue. Increased use of technology and other policing measures have contributed to a noticeable decline in reports of larceny in the town. Duncan emphasized that the police are committed to maintaining safety for shoppers and residents in Mandeville, especially during the busy shopping season.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to further reduce theft and protect vulnerable groups in the community.
