A 53-year-old Manchester man who was apprehended in a multi-million dollar cocaine bust at Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James, on Wednesday, May 22, has been charged and is scheduled to appear in court this Wednesday, May 29.
The accused, Thomas Edwards, of the Hatfield community in Manchester, was charged on Friday with Possession of Cocaine, Dealing in Cocaine, Attempting to Export Cocaine, and Conspiracy to Export Cocaine.
Reports indicate that shortly after 5:00 pm, Edwards, who was in the process of boarding a flight to Heathrow in England, was stopped at the security checkpoint, and his luggage was searched.
Approximately 4 kilograms of cocaine, with an estimated street value of JA$18,744,094.39, was found in his luggage.
