The Westmoreland police have apprehended a man wanted for murder in Canada.
The accused has been identified as Jason Richards, originally from Fort Williams in Westmoreland, but living in Toronto, Canada, for over 10 years.
He is wanted by the Canadian police for the killing of a man on April 24, 2024.
Reports indicate that on Thursday morning, May 24, Richards and another man were involved in an argument when Richards allegedly pulled a handgun and opened fire at the man.
Police arrived at the scene to find Richards standing at a crash site, having been involved in an accident while attempting to flee.
An investigation identified Richards as the shooter and confirmed his status as a suspect wanted for murder by the Canadian authorities.
He was subsequently taken into police custody.
