Man of Unsound Mind Burnt to Death in Negril, Westmoreland

Jamaica Crime News, Westmoreland: The Negril police in the parish of Westmoreland are now carrying out an investigation surrounding the death of a mentally challenged man who lost his life, after fire of unknown origin completely destroyed his one apartment board dwelling house in Red Ground, Negril on Thursday morning of July 13th.

The deceased has been identified as Junior Thompson whose age is not known.

Reports by the police are that about 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, residents living in Red Ground Negril raised an alarm after they discovered Thompson’s house on fire.

The police and the Fire Department were alerted.  Upon arrival at the scene, the firemen could only manage to carry out cooling down operations as the house and all its contents were completely destroyed.

The firefighters carried out a search of the debris and discovered Thompson’s burnt remains beneath the ashes of the burnt rubbles.
