Man Murdered over Cigarette Lighter in Logwood, Hanover

Jamaica Crime News, Hanover: The Green Island and Lucea police have reported that a man who reportedly killed another man over a cigarette lighter, in the Green Island policing area on Thursday, May 3, has now been taken into police custody.

The deceased has been identified as Laron Rowe otherwise called “Fuggy” 21-year-old laborer of Santoy in Logwood, Green Island.

In the meanwhile, the accused is said to be a 27-year-old man who also resides in the area.

Reports by the police are that shortly after 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, Rowe was standing at a shop along the Logwood main road when the accused man rode to the establishment on a motorcycle.

It is further reported that, Rowe and the accused man got involved in an argument over a cigarette lighter, at what point, Rowe allegedly attacked him with a machete.

The accused reportedly brandished a handgun and opened fire hitting Rowe several times to his upper body.

The police were summoned and upon arrival, Rowe was transported to the Noel Holmes hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Following a series of investigations the accused was apprehended and placed in lock up.
