A man is now dead following a reported confrontation with police during an operation in St Andrew last Thursday.
According to investigators, the incident unfolded at the intersection of Mona Road and Karachi Avenue while officers were conducting a covert operation. Police allege the man attempted to reach for a firearm, prompting officers to open fire.
Authorities said a handgun loaded with five rounds was recovered at the scene.
The injured man was taken to the University Hospital of the West Indies, where he was pronounced dead.
The matter remains under investigation.
