Man Killed After Allegedly Firing at Police During Operation

St Catherine, Jamaica: A 28-year-old man was fatally shot on Thursday morning during an alleged confrontation with the police in Newland, Portmore.

The deceased, identified as Christopher McLean, also known as ‘Frazzle,’ was a resident of the area.

According to reports, around 7:30 a.m., a police team was conducting an operation in the Beverly Flats community when McLean was observed with a firearm. Authorities stated that McLean opened fire on the police, who then returned fire, resulting in McLean being shot. A nine-millimeter pistol with a magazine containing nine rounds of ammunition was reportedly seized at the scene.

McLean was immediately transported to the Spanish Town Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).
