St. Elizabeth, Jamaica — A man caught on camera issuing threats to individuals who refuse to support the People’s National Party (PNP) in North East St. Elizabeth has been taken into police custody.
The man, whose identity has not yet been released, was arrested on Tuesday following the circulation of a viral video in which he boldly declared that those not backing the PNP candidate, Zuleika Jess, would face harm.
In the disturbing clip, the man warned residents against supporting any party or individual other than the PNP, sparking widespread outrage and demands for immediate police intervention.
Police sources confirmed that swift action was taken after the video went viral on social media, raising concerns about political intimidation and threats of violence in the lead-up to the general elections.
An investigation is ongoing as lawmen work to ensure calm and safety across the constituency.
