Gun violence claimed the life of a 32-year-old man during a brazen attack on Saturday night along Green Street near Knockpatrick in Manchester Parish.
The deceased has been identified by relatives as Cruise Smith, also known as “Killa.”
Reports indicate that about 7:45 p.m., Smith had just entered a motor car with his six-year-old son and another relative when armed men approached and opened fire. He was hit multiple times.
A relative transported Smith to hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His young son was not physically injured during the incident.
The fatal shooting occurred in close proximity to a bar where Kevin Brown, otherwise called “Cheese,” was shot and killed on September 9, 2024.
Police had recently increased social intervention efforts in the community, including the staging of a football competition last Sunday aimed at engaging residents of Green Street and nearby areas.
Investigations into Saturday night’s killing are ongoing.
