Man Gets Suspended Sentencing for “Boxing” His Aunt; Accused Her of Carrying News

Jamaica Crime News, Montego Bay: A man who had brought on legal troubles on himself after boxing his aunt in her face, was given a suspended sentence following his appearance in the St. James Parish Court on Tuesday.

Thirty-year-old Arthur Drummond was facing a charge of assault occasioning bodily harm.

It is alleged that on April 16 this year, the aunt was visiting her niece when Drummond showed up at the house and began an argument with her. During the altercation, Drummond allegedly boxed the woman in her face and accused her of carrying news to his girlfriend.

In court on Tuesday, the judge sentenced the defendant to nine months’ imprisonment, but the sentence was suspended for two years. A probation order was also made for supervision and anger management.

Drummond was represented by attorney-at-law Michael Hemmings.
