KINGSTON, JAMAICA — An unidentified male was fatally shot by police after allegedly attempting to disarm an officer during an incident along Content Avenue in Kingston 10 on Saturday.
According to reports, around 12:00 noon, a police patrol encountered two men who fled upon seeing the approaching police vehicle. Officers pursued and successfully apprehended one of the men.
During a search, police discovered a Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol concealed in the man’s waistband. It is alleged that while the firearm was being seized, the suspect attempted to disarm one of the officers and was subsequently shot by another officer at the scene.
The incident is now under investigation by the Independent Commission of Investigation (INDECOM).
