Man Fatally Shot by Police: The Independent Commission of Investigation has commenced a probe into the fatal police shooting of a man at Dump, in Retirement, St. James, on Thursday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Akeem Bowen, a laborer also from Dump, in Retirement.
Reports by the police indicate that shortly after midnight, a team of officers, acting on intelligence, went to a house occupied by Bowen in search of an illegal firearm.
According to the police, upon reaching the premises, they were fired upon by Bowen. The officers returned fire, resulting in Bowen being shot and killed.
An illegal handgun and several rounds of ammunition were taken from him.
