Man Fatally Shot by Police in Green Island, Hanover

The Green Island police in Hanover are reporting that a man was fatally shot during a confrontation with the police in the Kendal district, Green Island, Hanover, on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Jermaine Campbell, also of Kendal district.

Reports indicate that a team of officers went to the community in search of wanted men when they observed Campbell behaving strangely.

Upon seeing the lawmen approaching, Campbell allegedly brandished a handgun and pointed it at them.

The officers took evasive actions and fired in his direction, hitting him.

He was taken to the Noel Holmes Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, and an illegal firearm was recovered from him.

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has commenced a probe into the shooting.
