Man Fatally Shot by Police After Stabbing Cousin to Death in Rae Town

Kingston, Jamaica – A man was shot and killed by police this afternoon after he fatally stabbed his cousin in Rae Town, Kingston.

The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The deceased woman has been identified as 43-year-old Niesha Williams, a mother of two.

Reports are that the man, known to residents as Rashad, stabbed Williams during a domestic dispute. Residents raised an alarm, and Williams was rushed to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police were called to the scene and attempted to apprehend the suspect. However, according to police reports, the man attacked the officers during the arrest attempt and was subsequently shot.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation, and the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has been notified.
