Jamaica Crime News, Westmoreland: One of the three men who was facing the Hanover Parish Court for Breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act pleaded guilty when he appeared in Court on Tuesday, June 12th.
The accused Ronald Dell of a Westmoreland address was ordered by presiding Judge, Justice Sharon Barnes to return to court in August for sentencing.
Dell and his co-accused, Sergeant Christopher McDaniel, who was stationed at the Green Island police station and Tyee Kameka are all facing charges of Possession of, Dealing in and Taking Steps to export ganja.
Reports are that on July 14, 2017, a team of officers attached to the Narcotics Division carried out an operation along a section of the Old Green Island road in Green Island.
It is further reported that, all three men which include the police officer, were held in a motor truck which was transporting 48 knitted bags containing ganja weighing approximately 2445 pounds.
It is further reported that several men who were also on board a dark-colored motor car, which was parked at the scene, opened fire on the police and the vehicle sped away.
The three were taken into custody and subsequently charged
