SAVANNA-LA-MAR, Westmoreland – A 28-year-old construction worker has been charged with rape following an alleged sexual assault in Water Wheel, Cave, Westmoreland, on January 13.
Sheldon Thompson, also known as ‘Shello,’ of Beggar View, Water Wheel, was apprehended on Monday and subsequently charged by the Savanna-la-Mar police.
The police report that on the afternoon of January 13, the complainant, who was alone at her home, was allegedly attacked by Thompson, who is known to her.
It is alleged that Thompson forcibly held the complainant down and sexually assaulted her before fleeing the scene.
The complainant later disclosed the incident to a relative, who subsequently reported the matter to the police.
Following an investigation, Thompson was identified as the suspect and apprehended during a police operation on Monday.
He was subsequently charged after giving a caution statement to the police. Thompson is awaiting his court date.
