A man has been charged with the fatal shooting of a pastor at his stall on West Street in Old Harbour, St. Catherine.
Twenty-seven-year-old Lamar Myers, also known as ‘Duppy Maker,’ faces charges of murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and using a prohibited weapon to commit a felony.
The victim, 41-year-old Pastor Michael Spencer of Dolphin Terrace, Old Harbour Glades, St. Catherine, was shot and killed on Saturday, January 18.
According to reports from the Old Harbour police, around 8:00 p.m., Spencer was at his stall when Myers, a construction worker from Burke Road in Old Harbour, approached him.
Myers allegedly drew a firearm and shot Spencer in the head and upper body before fleeing on foot.
The police were alerted, and Spencer was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Following an investigation, Myers was declared wanted two days later. He later surrendered and was charged after a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.
His court date is currently being finalized.
