St Ann, Jamaica — A 23-year-old man from Clarendon has been charged in connection with the brutal November 2024 murder of 72-year-old retiree Allan Rattigan, who was found tied up and strangled at his home in Pyramid Point, Ocho Rios.
The accused, Malik Hepburn of Bucknor, May Pen, was charged on Tuesday, April 8, following a police investigation and a question-and-answer session conducted in the presence of two Justices of the Peace.
According to reports from the St Ann’s Bay police, Rattigan’s caregiver made the grim discovery around 10:00 p.m. on Monday, November 18, 2024. The elderly man was found with his hands and feet bound. Emergency services were called, and Rattigan was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigations revealed that Rattigan had invited Hepburn and four other men to his home prior to the incident. An altercation reportedly occurred during the visit, resulting in Rattigan being strangled.
Police say a quantity of jewellery, a pair of shoes, and a mobile phone belonging to the victim were stolen during the incident.
Hepburn has since been taken into custody and charged with murder and robbery. His court date is currently being finalised.
The police continue to investigate the involvement of the other individuals present at the time of the incident.
