Kingston, Jamaica – A 23-year-old man, Michael Laing, has been charged with robbery with aggravation after allegedly stealing from a senior citizen at a bus stop in downtown Kingston.
Laing, also known as ‘Mark’, of Charles Street and Rose Lane, Kingston, is scheduled to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday, December 4. The charges stem from an incident on Monday, November 11, at about 8:04 p.m., when an elderly man was waiting for public transportation at North Parade.
Reports from the Central Police indicate that Laing approached the senior citizen, removed his wallet from his back pants pocket, and made off with $12,000 along with other personal documents. When the elderly man realized what had happened, he attempted to recover his belongings, but Laing reportedly brandished a knife and fled the scene on foot.
A report was made to the police, and Laing was arrested and charged on Tuesday, November 26.
