Male Inmate Killed at Chapelton Lock-Up: The Police High Command has ordered a probe into Monday morning’s stabbing death of an inmate at the Chapelton lock-up in Clarendon.
Reports indicate that shortly after 3:00 am, the cell guard on duty at the station lock-up heard loud sounds coming from the direction of the cell block and went to investigate.
Upon visiting the cell, they discovered one of the prisoners lying in a pool of blood with stab wounds to his upper body.
He was rushed to the May Pen Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation revealed that the deceased had been involved in an argument with other inmates and was stabbed during the dispute.
Following the incident, Commissioner of Police Dr. Kevin Blake ordered an immediate probe into the incident.
