The St Andrew Central police seized an M16 rifle along with a magazine containing twenty 5.56 rounds of ammunition during an operation on Red Hills Road on Monday.
Reports from the Half-Way Tree police indicate that around 2:15 p.m., law enforcement officers were conducting operations in the area when they searched a premises where two men were present.
The men were accosted and searched, and the premises was thoroughly examined. During the search, the firearm was discovered in their possession.
The two men were subsequently taken into custody; however, their identities are being withheld pending further investigation.
Authorities continue to investigate the matter to determine any potential connections to criminal activities.
