Jamaica Crime News, Westmoreland: The Westmoreland police have now confirmed that, the licensed firearm belonging to the People’s National Party activist, who was shot and killed by gunmen in the parish of Westmoreland on Thursday morning, May 10 was stolen by the men.

In the meanwhile, hoards of condolences are pouring in from members of the People’s National Party, who are now mourning the gruesome murder of their hard working comrade.

The deceased has been identified as Mikey Dawes, Rastafarian businessman of West End, Negril and Constituency Leader for the People’s National Party in Western Westmoreland.

Reports by the police are that shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dawes was on his construction site in West End Negril overseeing a dream house which he was building in the area.

It is further reported that while at the site, a motor car with three men on board drove up and one of the men asked for Mr Dawes.  He was pointed in his directions and the men reportedly brandished handguns and opened fire hitting him several times to his upper body.  The men then reportedly stole his licensed firearm.

The Negril police were summoned and upon arrival, the wounded man was transported to the Savanna-la-mar hospital where he was pronounced dead.

In the meanwhile, PNP Member of Parliament for Western Westmoreland, Wykeham McNeill, told our news team that he is still traumatized by the shocking news.
