A lecturer has been formally charged with grievous sexual assault following an alleged incident involving an 18-year-old female student in West Kingston. The incident reportedly took place in June 2024.
According to reports, the accused, who is also a relative of the victim, visited her home around 6:30 pm on the day in question. During the visit, the lecturer allegedly overpowered the young woman and forcibly inserted his finger into her vagina against her will.
The traumatic event was immediately reported to the police, triggering an investigation. Authorities quickly began searching for the lecturer, who was considered a person of interest in the case.
The lecturer recently turned himself in to the police and was subsequently charged following a question-and-answer session conducted in the presence of his attorney.
The name of the accused has not been released pending further investigation and legal proceedings.
