A Kingston man who attempted to kill himself, his ex-girlfriend, and her daughter after the woman refused to resume their relationship, has been arrested and charged.
The accused, 46-year-old Nicholas Rhodes, also known as ‘Nick’ of Dehaney Drive in Kingston 20, has been arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder and arson.
Reports state that around 6:30 am last Monday, June 17, Rhodes went to his ex-girlfriend’s home on Swallow Road in Kingston 11 and demanded that she reconcile with him. When she refused, Rhodes grabbed both her and her daughter, locked them inside the house, and set it on fire.
The woman and her daughter screamed for help, and neighbors came to their assistance. They were then rushed to the hospital and treated for burns.
The police were notified of the incident, leading to Rhodes’s arrest and subsequent charges.
