A 28-year-old Kingston man has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a Clarendon-based soldier earlier this month along Stephen Lane in Kingston 13.
Charged is Davar Guthrie, otherwise called ‘Pibu,’ of Stephen Lane, Kingston 13. He faces multiple charges in relation to the death of 25-year-old Daniel Crawford of Bryan’s Land, Spaulding, Clarendon.
According to reports from the Hunts Bay Police, at approximately 8:51 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, law enforcement officers were alerted to loud explosions heard in the area. A police team responded and conducted a search, during which Crawford was found lying along the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds to the head and upper body.
He was transported to hospital for treatment but was later pronounced dead.
Following what investigators described as intensive inquiries, Guthrie was taken into custody. He was subsequently charged after being positively identified during an identification parade.
Guthrie has been charged with Murder, Conspiracy to Murder, Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony, Shooting with Intent, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, and Unauthorised Possession of Ammunition.
His court date is currently being finalised.
