Kingston, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Heavy firepower was taken off the streets of Kingston on Wednesday afternoon after police officers attached to the Specialized Operations Branch carried out a targeted operation on Chaves Avenue, Kingston 3.
The result? Over 80 rounds of assorted ammunition seized — but no suspects in custody.
Gritty Discovery Along the Fence
Reports are that around 4:35 p.m., the elite lawmen were conducting operations in the area when they zeroed in on a local shop. During the search, their instincts paid off — a suspicious bag tucked along a fence line caught their attention.
What they found inside was a deadly stash:
- Thirty-four .357 Magnum rounds
- Twenty-nine 5.56mm rounds
- Eleven 12-gauge shotgun cartridges
- Four .380 cartridges
- Four 9mm rounds
- Two 7.62mm rounds
- Two .22 rounds
This cache represents a deadly range of firepower capable of fueling major criminal operations across the Corporate Area.
No Arrests — Yet
Despite the significant find, no one was arrested in connection with the ammunition. The bag appeared abandoned — a telltale sign that someone got wind of the police’s presence and fled the scene.
Sources close to the investigation say that detectives are now reviewing CCTV footage in the area and conducting forensic testing on the items recovered.
Criminals Beware – Ops Branch Watching
Police say this is just one of several recent operations targeting gun runners and ammunition suppliers across Kingston and St. Andrew.
“We’re not easing up. These finds are the result of precise intelligence and street work,” said one officer close to the team. “If you’re holding ammo, we’re coming.”
Investigation Ongoing
The ammunition is now in police custody, and the investigation is ongoing. Residents are being urged to report any suspicious activity — anonymously — to help lawmen clamp down on illegal weapons in their communities.
