Jamaica Crime News, Westmoreland: Cynthia Saunders, mother of slain 9-year-old student Kadijah Chavealee Saunders, wept openly, telling the bitter tale of how she hoped and prayed that she would find her little baby girl unharmed.
Mrs Saunders and her entire household comforted each other as she spoke of the wonder child Chavealee was.
The grieving mother stated that, when her 9-year-old did not come home from school at the time she normally does on Tuesday afternoon of June 5th, she got rather worried and concern.
She immediately went on the road in search of her, but she was nowhere to be found. Several of her classmates who attended the same school, New Works Primary in Dundee District, Westmoreland, informed Mrs Saunders that she was last seen in the company of a 13-year–old male student who was chasing her at a section of the area known as Big.
After visiting more than a dozen places and on route to the police station to make a report she got news that she was found.
She immediately rushed to the area hoping to hug and kiss her daughter, but her hopes turned to sorrow upon discovering that Chavealee was actually found, but found dead.
Officers attached to the Child Development Agency ( CDA) have now joined forces with the Westmoreland police in an investigation surrounding the death of the 9-year-old student, who is believed to have been allegedly sexually molested and then strangled to death on the afternoon of June 5th by her 13-year-old schoolmate.
The child was last seen alive by her school mates at a section of the area known as Bog.
Following a search of a turn off road, community members stumbled upon the body of Chavealee, as she is affectionately called, underneath a bridge known as Bridge Lane.
The police have since taken her 13-year-old schoolmate into custody in connection with her death.
