Kingston, Jamaica — A man was shot and killed by gunmen at a car park at the corner of West and Tower Streets in downtown Kingston on Monday night.
The victim has been identified as 55-year-old Kirk Orlando Francis, also known as ‘Judas,’ a higgler from Whitney Drive in Washington Drive, St. Andrew. Francis was reportedly well-known in the West Kingston area and was a prominent figure in Tivoli Gardens.
According to police reports, the incident occurred around 7:20 p.m. Francis was about to enter his blue 2014 Honda Civic when an unknown assailant approached him and opened fire, hitting him multiple times. The gunmen then fled the scene on a motorcycle.
Relatives of Francis quickly rushed him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
The police have not yet established a motive for the killing and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
