Jamaica – JLP Campaign Chairman, Dr. Christopher Tufton, is hitting back hard at the Opposition, declaring that when it comes to fighting crime, the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) delivers real results, while the People’s National Party (PNP) is stuck making “grandiose statements.”
Tufton made the fiery remarks while on tour in North West Clarendon on Tuesday, where he was joined by JLP candidate Warren Newby.
The outspoken minister dismissed recent comments made by Opposition Spokesman on National Security, Peter Bunting, who accused the Holness administration of pushing a “warrior mentality” among the security forces.
But Dr. Tufton was not having it.
“Jamaicans must not be fooled by the words of a man who looked overwhelmed and out of ideas when he was the one in charge of national security,” Tufton fired back.
According to Tufton, while the PNP talks a big game, it is the JLP that has shown tangible results in bringing down crime, pointing to an almost 50 percent reduction in murders in Clarendon since the start of the year compared to the same period in 2024.
“The record speaks for itself,” Tufton said. “Bunting’s main problem is that the PNP’s track record on fighting crime is nothing short of abysmal.”
Bunting had made his comments while speaking at the PNP’s recent manifesto launch, painting the Holness-led government as reckless in its crime-fighting approach.
But Tufton says the results on the ground tell a very different story – one of strategy, commitment, and real leadership.
