Kingston, Jamaica – The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is issuing a stern warning against the illegal and dangerous practice of firing gunshots into the air to celebrate the New Year.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the JCF emphasized that this practice is not only illegal but also poses a significant risk of serious injury or even death.
“Remember, what goes up must come down – celebrate responsibly to avoid serious injuries or worse,” the force warned.
The JCF has assured the public that law enforcement officers will be on standby to respond to any incidents related to the illegal discharge of firearms.
“Ring in the New Year safely! …Let’s welcome 2025 with joy, not danger,” the JCF concluded in its message.
The JCF’s warning comes as the country prepares to usher in the New Year. The force is urging citizens to celebrate responsibly and avoid any activities that could endanger themselves and others.
