Kingston, Jamaica— The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has issued a statement refuting reports that a serving member of the force was arrested in connection with the murder of Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) Private Ejay Domville. The clarification comes amid widespread speculation following the soldier’s death on August 23, 2024.
“We wish to categorically state that these reports are false. No serving member of the JCF has been taken into custody in relation to this matter,” the JCF said in a statement on Sunday, September 28, 2024.
The JCF further explained that the individual arrested was a 31-year-old man who had been dismissed from the police force as a trainee over two years ago due to an unrelated incident. The man’s apprehension occurred during a targeted operation led by the Area Four Fugitive Apprehension Team and the Denham Town mobile patrol in West Kingston on Saturday afternoon.
The JCF clarified that while the former trainee was detained during the investigation, his arrest is not directly linked to the murder of Private Domville.
Private Ejay Domville, 20, was shot and killed on August 23 while conducting a foot patrol near Charles Street and Chestnut Lane in Kingston. The investigation into his murder is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
