A Jamaican farm worker died after sustaining injuries during an altercation involving another worker in Ontario, Canada, the Ministry of Labour and Social Security has reported.
He has been identified as Rajay Baker, a participant in the Seasonal Agricultural Workers Programme.
According to the ministry, emergency responders attempted to assist Baker, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Canadian authorities are investigating the incident as a homicide.
In a statement on Wednesday, October 28, the ministry said it would refrain from providing further details about the circumstances while the investigation remains active. A post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted in the coming days.
