St. Catherine, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) – Correctional Officer Shoots Wife: The police are investigating the shooting of a correctional officer’s wife in their bedroom on Saturday evening May 13. The Corrections officer attached to Horizon Adult Remand Cente, Kingston is being sought for questioning in the shooting.
Mckoy’s News was briefed on the shooting, with reports that the 36-year-old female nurse was at home with her husband on Nautilus Drive, New Habour Village, St. Catherine on Saturday when an explosion was heard.
Information further states that a prison guard with the Department of Correctional Services, and attached to the Horizon Maximum Security Prison on Spanish Town Road, allegedly confronted his wife in their bedroom, when an argument broke out between the couple over unresolved matrimonial issues. During the loud argument an explosion was heard coming from the bedroom about 4 pm.
Shortly after the explosion, the wife ran outside suffering from what appears to be a gunshot wound to her abdomen.
She collapsed and was assisted to the Spanish Town Hospital by a neighbor.
The St Catherine Police are now seeking the Corrections Officer who fled the scene immediately and his whereabouts are unknown.
