291 Persons Killed in Motor Vehicle Accidents Year to Date 2017

Kingston Jamaica (Mckoy’s News)Motor Vehicle Accidents in Jamaica: 291 people have been killed in 264 crashes since January 2016. This is a decrease in numbers from last year 2016.

Fatal crashes have decreased by 10 percent, while fatalities reduced by 17 percent when compared to the same time frame in 2016.

Pedestrians account for 27 percent of the road users killed and motorcyclists account for 30 percent. Westmoreland, St. Catherine, St. Andrew, and St. Ann account for 50 per cent of the fatalities.

Statistics released on Monday show that 16 percent of the overall fatalities occurred in the parish of Westmoreland.
