MANCHESTER, Jamaica — A quiet Sunday morning in Spring Ground, Christiana, was shattered when lawmen swooped down on a house and arrested five Haitian nationals — including a pregnant woman — during a targeted police operation.
Acting commander for the Manchester police, Deputy Superintendent Luhas Daniels, confirmed the bust, stating that the early-morning raid was carried out based on intelligence reports about immigration breaches and a possible search for illegal firearms.
“During a targeted operation in Spring Ground district of Manchester, the premises was searched, and five Haitians — four males and one female — were found at the location,” DSP Daniels said.
Their identities have not yet been released, as investigations are ongoing. The individuals were taken into custody for processing and are expected to face questioning by immigration authorities.
No weapons were discovered during the operation, but police say the Haitians were medically examined following their arrest.
