Westmoreland, Jamaica ( McKoy’s News)- ILLEGAL FIREARM SEIZED IN WESTMORELAND AFTER SHOOT OUT An illegal firearm and several rounds of ammunition were seized in Westmoreland on Monday (September 18, 2017) morning following a gunbattle between armed men and the police in Sav La Mar.

 According to the Westmoreland police at about 1:30 a.m. on Monday a group of heavily armed men went to several houses located in the Seaton Crescent and Ricketts Street area of Sav La Mar and fired a barrage of gunshots at the occupants. The occupants narrowly escaped being killed and alerted the police.

On the arrival of the police, a group of armed men opened fire on them and the fire was returned. A heated gunbattle ensued and the gunmen retreated to a neighboring yard.

The lawmen further stated that they came upon a trail of blood which led to the discovery of a Beretta .40 semi-automatic pistol containing 10 live rounds behind a house. A search is now on for the gunmen in the area.
