Kingston, Jamaica — On Saturday, an illegal firearm was uncovered hidden within the wall of a house on Brynes Street in Craig Town, Kingston 12, according to police reports.
Despite the significant find, no arrests have been made in connection with the seizure.
The discovery comes amid a violent turf war between rival gangs in Craig Town, prompting the police to increase patrols and conduct regular snap raids in the embattled community.
According to reports, a police team from the Kingston Western Division conducted a snap raid at the premises around 12:50 p.m. During the search, officers found a Springfield rifle with a magazine containing 13 live 7.62 cartridges. The firearm was concealed inside a black zipper firearm casing bag, which was hidden within a wall at the back of the premises. The weapon has since been seized and processed by the authorities.
This incident follows the police’s recent efforts to address the escalating violence in Craig Town. Last week, 14 men from the area were listed as persons of interest in connection with the ongoing gang feud. The police continue to urge residents to come forward with any information that could assist in their investigations.
