Jamaica News (McN) – Member of Parliament for Western Hanover, Ian Hayles is heading to court today, hoping to get a ruling to block the Office of the Contractor General’s (OCG) report to be tabled in parliament.
On February 13, the OCG submitted a report to parliament in reference to irregularities that created a conflict of interest, in relation to the construction of buildings by Hayles, without the approval of the Hanover Parish Council.
MP Ian Hayles’ attorneys are arguing that their client’s constitutional rights is being breached by the publication of such report.
Former Prime Minister, the Right Honorable Bruce Golding said Hayles attempt to block the OCG report raises constitutional concerns.
Mr. Golding further stated that the report is under the OCG Act and is therefore, property of the government.
