ST ANDREW, Jamaica — Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) leader Dr Andrew Holness has thrown his full support behind St Andrew Eastern candidate Fayval Williams, describing her as a strong, capable minister of finance who should not be underestimated.
Holness, who cast his vote at Mona High School in the constituency this morning, expressed confidence that Williams will retain her seat. He praised her unique style, saying she is strong without being overbearing, humble yet highly effective in her role.
Williams, a Harvard graduate and accomplished businesswoman before entering politics, has held the finance portfolio with distinction in Holness’ administration. According to the JLP leader, she has consistently executed her duties effectively, often surprising observers with her expertise and work ethic.
Holness also emphasized that Williams’ leadership and commitment make her a formidable candidate in the current race. He expects her to win the seat decisively, continuing her service to the people of St Andrew Eastern.
Williams is facing off against the People’s National Party’s Patricia Duncan Sutherland in a contest that has drawn attention across the constituency.
