Jamaica – A Tropical Wave approaching from the east is set to make landfall across the island this afternoon into evening, bringing heavy showers and thunderstorms.
According to the Meteorological Service of Jamaica, eastern parishes are expected to start feeling the effects early, with isolated showers and thunder rolling in during the morning hours. By midday, conditions are expected to worsen, spreading clouds and rainfall across central and western parishes.
The rain won’t stop there. Forecasters say Jamaica is in for multiple days of unstable weather. On Monday, western parishes will bear the brunt of the rainfall. Southern parishes are in focus for Tuesday, and by Wednesday, most of the island could be under showers or storms.
While the island braces for wet conditions, the Met Service also confirmed that Tropical Storm Fernand, currently located southeast of Bermuda, poses no threat to Jamaica at this time.
Citizens are urged to take necessary precautions, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Motorists should also prepare for slippery roads and reduced visibility during heavy downpours.
Stay tuned to weather bulletins as the system moves across the island. Jamaica’s hurricane season is active — and this week, umbrellas and caution are a must.
